After reading about the current state of the art of XML schema langauges (the article is dated though) I decided to go the XML Schema way. It seems there are more tools available for it and it's also a w3c standard. And there is a tool available for conversion. Let's give it a try. Also have to find a XML Schema validation plugin for Eclipse.
